Today's schedule reminds me of some of the basics. I'm spending the a.m. doing some reading in a variety of topics that are of personal interest to me. A bit of review of Eriugena's Periphyseon, a bit of Virgil's Aeneid, and some of Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy (from which work, astute readers will recognize the title of my blog as stolen from bk II). All in prep for Tuesday's class, in which Pooh discovers early medieval Christian thought. If you are coming, don't worry, we are not doing all three at once.
Then in the early p.m. I'm picking up SJ from school and we are going to spend a couple of hours reviewing speech therapy exercises, and then maybe try to do some basic math skills, and finish up with some word recognition practice. There's a great resource out there for reading: Teaching Reading to Children With Down Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Teachers (part of the "Topics in Down Syndrome" series).
I find myself with a tendency to categorize things - but when it's all said and done, which is the top of the sine curve and which is the bottom?
