Mrs. Falstaff

Who is that singer??

Liam Clancy, an original member of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (from Ireland).

Thank you,Joseph. Your posts for this Day have comforted my soul. They are annointed. My Dad finally succumbed to the complications of being shot in the back by a sniper during the Normandy campaign, on 11 November 1992.

The song was written by Australian Eric Bogle (who is a great folk musician), and I think the Makem & Clancy live version is the best. I would have to look up which CD it is on, but it si one of the most moving songs I've heard in a long time.

The Terry Kelly song is based on an actual experience Terry had in a store on Remembrance Day.
