I believe I have unconsciously assumed that the prayers of children are not taken seriously by God. I have tended to look upon children praying as a pleasant and somewhat romantic ("aren't they adorable") display of a kind of spirituality-lite which will hopefully grow up, mature, and blossom into full fledged Christian devotion. Their prayer will be taken seriously when they can present their prayer with the full faculties of adulthood, or at least the painful angst of late adolescence.
I believe I am quite mistaken.
