Particularly the way the Gospel is structured with a view to showing just what Incarnation means and leads to. Two thumbs up.
Mike Marsh commented on 'sermon notes Lent 3, Year B, John 2:13-22'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d834515ec969e201127968d69228a42009-03-14T16:52:19Z2009-03-14T16:52:19ZMike Marshhttp://profile.typepad.com/6p0112790d3a7028a4This may be a bit of a stretch but I wonder if there is a connection between this text and...
This may be a bit of a stretch but I wonder if there is a connection between this text and the Prologue. The Word became flesh and the temple became human. Holiness is an interior quality rather than an exterior action. Authentic humanity as revealed in Jesus Christ is the true dwelling place, the temple, of God. Perhaps that is why this story appears earlier in John than in the synoptics. It needed to come first in order to open the way for all the "I am" statements.

Peace and zeal for holiness, Mike
