A friend and I had a bit of a 'laugh' over the latest "headline" on the national Anglican Church of Canada website:
In the interests of sharing the variety of voices across the Anglican Church of Canada this page offers information relating to discussions of the blessing of same-sex unions, homosexuality and the church from as [sic] variety of sources.
Of course, the question is, other than what?
Other than what has been presented on the website and in Church press so far? Other in the sense of alternative, cutting edge even, outside the mainstream of Christian faith as expressed in the Anglican way of following Jesus? Other than what is normative for us to teach, uphold and believe? Other than the voices of the website editors? I'm sorry, it just does strike me as a bit of an odd headline...
I get an image of disembodied spirits, hovering around a sacristy or old set of vestments or something.
[insert wooooooo sound here, and jingle some chains or something]
"Other Voices": Dr. Brett Cane, St. Aidan's Anglican Church, Winnipeg, gives us a pdf. As well, we have other voices from The Zacchaeus Fellowship, which they spelled wrong on one line and then had the correct spelling on the next. But that's okay, I don't always spell check stuff. In fact, I don't think I ever do.
And say, does anyone read the Edmonton Journal these days?
