sculpted nativity
One of the great things about tossing out our TV many years ago is that it gives us a bit of extra time to do some other things with the kids. This year we did a home sculpture project of nativity scenes with the kids. Pick up some clay at a craft or art supply store, and just have fun. Then give them away.
Of course, we have nothing on the collection of the World's Worst Nativity Sets. Or maybe we do.

Hmmm. The world's worst nativity sets you linked to at Generation Young Canadian Anglicans were posted here http://www.goingjesus.com/cavalcade.shtml in 2004.

Scott - thanks for providing the link. The Generations site did not have a link, but they did have a little notice at the bottom of their page:
Thanks to sara of goingjesus who allowed us to reproduce some of her kitsch and original captions. For those of you familiar with her cavalcade, you'll see some familiar, and some new images appearing here.

Apparently, I was in too much of a rush to cast aspersions to read all the fine print. I repent in sackcloth and ashes.
Congrats to you and your kids for the fine nativity sets. Very well done.

it's kind of tucked away down at the bottom somwhere, I had to look a few moments myself before I caught it. BTW, Tyler at Codex (in the sidebar links) has a great collection of links to various "christian-junk" stuff in several categories.

Ah yes, tossing out the TV. Probably not a bad idea!
We limit our lot, and don't have cable. I.e. why pay for 50 channels of rubbish I don't watch much when I can get 4 for free ;-)

Hello all, Bad Nativity generator here...
Yup Scott - I can tell you're a fan of the Cavalcade of Bad Nativities from way back - 2004 to be precise when it first appeared on goingjesus.com. Sara Cook (the inspired creator of that series) and I have been corresponding for a while and she gave the 'sure, go ahead' to copy various parts of her original set for the Generation Humour Files. And, for milk-through-the-nose reactions, you just can't beat some of her original captions too! I went browsing to add to the collection for spice, variety and Big Bagpipe Men. And the moose, but they are yet to come.
Look for a caption contest (starting Boxing Day) on our two favourite (and original)not-yet-seen Bad Nativities. Joe - after your Gandalf comments I'm expecting great things from you.
When I first put up the page, the credit was close to the surface, but I realize that it is now quite buried at the end of a gaggle of kitsch, so I'll move her up so that there's no accusations of me shamelessly ripping them off from Sara.
Cheers guys, enjoy the rest of the week and Happy Christmas (no sackcloth necessary Scott :)

I wish I could convince my other half to agree to tossing the tube. He likes his sports too much, though.

We thru out the TV, literally, after it started on fire, well actually after I put it out. So now when I want to watch a game I get to go to the pub and have a pint of guiness, or over to a pastor's house, and have a pint possibly as well. You can buy a respectable amount of guiness for what cable costs, it was easy math.
